The game is played in four rounds, each round lasting until the last tile of the stack is placed. Players have a starting tile, a river and a road tile. In a turn a player moves his stone as far as he wants, takes the tile and places it in his landscape; connecting road tiles to roads and river tiles to rivers.
The tile must be placed adjacent to a clan member, diagonally or orthogonally. If there are building costs for the tile, they must be paid. After this, the tile and all adjacent tiles can be activated: produce whisky, cattle, stone or wood, or take three points or move a clan member.

When the last tile in a round is placed, there is a scoring round. Three categories are checked: the military strength, sights of interest, and the amount of whisky. For each category there are points awarded. The player with the most points compares his score with the player with the least score; the difference is the mount of points scored for the first player, second player, and third player.
