Piatnik has published many interesting board games in the past, and is making a modest comeback with one or two board games a year since the last two years.

The board depicts Venice; at game start, all land and bridge tiles are placed randomly on the plastic board. Each player has three tokens and at game start places these anywhere on the board. The tiles each have a number, higher numbers obviously are better for scoring. Each player also is dealt from five to nine cards and receives nine money; the game ends when all cards have been played. Players must play their lowest numbered card; the cards go from three to eight.

When playing a card, that numbered tile is flipped  over to its water side, eventually with a players token that stood on the tile. But all players also have two gondola cards that enable them to rescue the token that subsequently may be placed on another tile. The tokens collect treasures by travelling to a specific coloured tile, paying one money, and taking the correspondent coloured treasure.

When all cards have been played, there still is a segment of Venice that is not submerged as not all cards got into play. From this, the value of the treasures is calculated with the most points for treasures of coloured tiles that are the rarest.
Each field on the sturdy plastic board has a special cut out in each of the four corners, making flipping the tiles to its water side very convenient.
