Eldritch Horror is sort of an expansion of the boardgame Arkham Horror. Here the characters travel through the world, and the game is harder and more unforgiving. Players must cooperate even more than in Arkham Horror.

In Civilization - Weisheit und Kriegskunst, an expansion to the Civilization board game, the battle system has been changed; each unit now has separate strength and health values for more tactical battles. A unit may not be completely killed, but this sure has an effect on future turns. It also features new game elements such as the social policy that enables a player to more individualise his civilization. Six new civilizations are added, each with its special powers.

Plaid Hat Games

BioShock is the boardgame of the computer game. Two teams, for two or four players play against each other, blue and red, stealing objectives from one another, assassinating leaders, destroying strongholds, bidding against each other for control of unfolding events and more. Each round there are elections, and each winner takes a victory point. Ten of them bring victory to the team.
x
In order to win an election, one has to control as many locations as possible on the board.
The game is card driven; each round a player has five cards to play, either according to one of the symbols or by playing it as a new character on the board. The game has a timing effect: there is a hero wandering around the board who nobody really wants near him as he only causes trouble. This hero is trying to rescue ‘Elisabeth’, known from the computer game, and when he manages to rescue her, the game is over and all players have lost.

There are general assignments that are equal for all players; the first player to fulfill all tasks on the card has won; in this respect it has similarities to Talisman.

NSKN Games

This game comes from a Rumanian publisher. The players act as engineers who will have to build a city. The game follows the worker placement mechanics where it all is about resource management and building. The city being build consists of cards that gradually are laid out. Each building has a function, and when built, all players can use its function.

x
Each turn players will place workers on previously built city tiles to gain resources, morale, new workers or favor poiints. At the end of each turn, the workers will have to be paid, otherwise the mood in the city will deteriorate. Most of the actions a players workers will perform will help them gaining experience. They will become extremly skilled in collecting resources, and a players most experienced workers eventually will retire and score addtional favor points, but a player will still have to show solidarity so he must continue to pay then until the end of the game.

Alea / Ravensburger

Does Alea keeps its doors closed for other authors than Feld, one might wonder? If I were Alea, I would close a life insurance on the guy as it seems Alea relies heavily on him, if not exists by the grace of him.
The game: on the island are rare species that the players try to catch for points. The gameboard consists of several irregular parts that each time form a different composition. There are 35 animals, five of each species.
x
Each player has an envelope with four segments and three sleeves, and five explorers that initially are placed at the C segment of the envelope. At the start of each round, each player receives three cards. The card depicts three segments. One shows the special function of the card, the second the income in resources and the third deals with victory points for the various animals.
xx
xx
Players choose and assign the three cards face down to the three segments A, B and D of the envelope. Players play the cards one by one, segment by segment and put them in the sleeve where it now unlocks the special function of the card. But from the fourth turn on, they have to cover the old cards in sleeve A; the cards in B and D are discarded. Phase B is the income phase, and phase C is where players assign their explorers. Placing them on a green field would require them to pay with two green cubes. The explorers try to catch the animals by encircling them, after which they make take the animal chit.
xxx
xx
In phase C, after all explorers have been placed on the board, players move their explorer(s) to a different field on the board. In phase D, players move one of the animal victory markers on a separate board; each caught animal could score up to five points at game end this way. This board also shows when the game ends, for instance, in a two player game it ends when any combination of animal markers reaches a total value of seven. There are 120 cards in the game, and 60 more cards for a more advanced game.
